This is the site of one of the worst mining disasters in Nevada history! A fire had broke out in the mine which resides behind this building at the 800' level. As many as 45 men died in 1869 which led to some bodies not being retrieved and parts of the mine sealed off. What you see in this video is where the ore begins to be processed. It drops onto the conveyor belt from the shaft that resides behind this building. As you can see at the end of the belt is a drop into the bucket where it would be processed at the mill you see below the open flooring.
