The clip starts off looking in the face of Yeti at the Mustang Ranch Steakhouse to cruising past a couple wild mustangs and past Thomas The Train eventually ending up at the old Comstock Gold Mill. This was a two stamp Joshua Hendy Mill built in San Francisco and eventually ending up in the 1860's at the Savage Mine site which served the Comstock Lode in Virginia City. The Savage mine was 1 of the 5 big bonanza's in the Comstock which was claimed in 1859. Two shafts were sunk one at about 1800' the other well over 2200' but flooding, fires, geothermal heat and constantly accidents really put a damper on the mines success, Despite that factor by 1909 the mine had netted 18 million dollars in gold.The owners of the Savage had also stakes in the Combination Mine just across from the mill and in all the Comstock the Savage Mansion was one of the most elegant which resides up on a hill above the mill where the Superintendents resided and Ulysses Grant gave a speech in 1879 during a parade. The Savage Mine was the first shaft to come into contact with the Sutro Tunnel which provided ventilation and drainage so that the bonanza mines could explore more minerals at deeper levels. I am going to take you on a journey to one of the only working Hendy two stamp mill in the country and your going to see it working thanks to Outlaw Dave who maintains this steam powered mill. After we are done showing some of Comstock Relics of the past ill take you up the elegant Savage Mansion so you can take in some views and put the mill into perspective. The superintendents would have lived on the 2nd and 3rd story but the bottom of the mansion served as a mining office. They could watch the mill and mine from the balcony! Many deaths and accidents occurred in the Savage mine one man was boiled to death and quite a few had fallen hundreds of feet due to cage accidents. In fact one man was nearly sliced in half by the cage then his limp body fell to the bottom of the mine. Ill finish up the clip at the Bucket Of Blood Saloon driving a brew while watching the Comstock Cowboys a great adventure indeed and if you never seen someone play music on a washboard your about too!
