Just like any given ghost town you will not see allot unless your willing to climb a few hills and mountains. In this case I climb these mountains not just for the view but for history so that I know I did not miss anything of significance. The hills are very bare their are allot of open mine pits, broken glass, wood boards and great views of the main town site below. But their is also many sites that been erased from history as I climb to see if I can locate anymore prior to us heading out of here. This footage is a stroll through Ludwig's Mining District. You can see a giant piece of quartz, dump piles and the gypsum mine below. As you can see the area is massive then again this was a big city at one time and life was good. You can imagine that many of the locals probably climbed these hills especially during a lunch break to enjoy the view of Artesia Lake and the Pine Nuts from afar. I did not find much while exploring this area seen many fences of open shafts from afar and then very steep canyons that can take you up to the peak. Its important to be thorough when traversing this wilderness as the town is very scattered all the way from foundations to mill sites and even relics of the past that can easily be missed.
