Morningstar was just a small camp when John D. Ludwig discovered copper ore here the rest is history eventually it grew into a mining camp then the city of Ludwig in 1911. Our journey would take us up to the Morningstar Mine which today is nonexistent and has been replaced with gypsum mining that was revitalized four to five different times. One can see the massive pit and that dump pile from afar which meant that the mines must had been monolithic during the 1800's. Today one can see the mills including remnants of the foundry but most of these places are long gone. Mining has kind of enhanced the destruction of the town and well based on this video you can see just about everything has been eradicated. It went from having a 1000 residents, electricity, sewage, running water, multiple homes, businesses, saloons, school, church, wealthy mines to having not one but two railroads. Eventually once the railroad left and the mines were depleted by 1960's everybody was gone and the Morningstar/Ludwig Mine was now just an illusion of its former glory.
