At the Bayview Vista once can get great views of Fannette Island which btw is Tahoe's ONLY Island. When Vikingsholm Castle was built so was the castle like tea house on top of this island. Today all that remains is a mere shell of its former glory. But back in the day the island had many names including Dead Man's island where some temple of the dead was built on. That very same captain who built this temple mysteriously vanished just another strange thing you can add to the local lore of the area,. Sometimes people have also seen Tessie near the island which is a legendary lake monster instead I made friends with this chocolate Lab.
