The Reno Hebrew Cemetery opened in 1878 after an influx of miners and there families relocated to the area when the Comstock Lode begin to taper off. A man by the name of David Lachman purchased a plot of land from the Hillside Cemetery which borders this place of the dearly departed. After the Reno Hebrew Benevolent Society folded later other congregations would take over the cemetery offering free burials for long-term members. This walk through is a historic tour for our viewers to enjoy the beautiful epitaphs overshadowed by the snow capped monolithic Mount Rose in the background. Their is only two Hebrew Cemeteries in Northern Nevada the one in Virginia City and this one in Reno both of which I have visited. Although this cemetery is very well maintained one thing you will learn from it is that it has suffered some vandalism so we did this tour two show our viewers the good and the bad.
