The Salt Springs Dam was built in 1929 finished by 1931 it stands over 300' in height and is designed to hold back the waters of the Mokelumne River. As you can see the water is extremely low thus inhibiting its ability to produce hydroelectric power. In the 1800s a wooden dam existed in its place but during a storm it broke wide open.
