This is a grand tour of the Old Tonopah Cemetery which contains 300 interments. The cemetery only was used from 1901 till about 1911. Burials stopped because they ran out of room especially after the Belmont Tonopah Mine Fire which killed 17 men and 14 of them are buried here including "Big Bill" who sacrificed his life to save many men over a 1000' below the surface but by his third rescue he never came back up. Other pioneers buried here died due to the mysterious Tonopah Plague. Most of the folks buried here were in poverty therefore at best they were given a wooden grave marker or cross. The cemetery is next to the Clown Motel so in a sense both locations go hand in hand for its strangeness. This is a haunted cemetery something I sought out to prove and I did just that so at the time I was filming this my thoughts would be to visit here late at night to unmask this places mysteries. I did make a slight error due to misinformation but there is no Masonic cemetery its all one graveyard but it appears the more well to do were buried on a hill towards the back and some were masons. The first burial here was a man by the name of John Randel Weeks on May 7th of 1901. Most of the people here died tragically Tonopah was the true boom town it had the good, bad and ugly. Some of the men buried here died tragically in those mines and in merely a decade this graveyard led to full capacity.
