Cedar Hill and Canyon was the area the Eureka Society decided to plot one of the finest cemeteries of its day in Virginia City in 1863. Due to the growth of the Jewish population a burial ground would be needed to suit the needs of them. As we hike down into the canyon we can clearly see some wild Mustangs grazing near the cemetery fence from afar. This is some of the cities beautiful back country.
